Review of Lifeboat (1944) by William J — 13 Jan 2008
Based on work by John Steinbeck, this was a Powerful and efficient Hitchcock film with a clever idea that could just have easily been a stageplay---several survivors of a naval battle in WWII end up in a lifeboat, and one turns out to be a Nazi--all of the drama that ensues comes from the clash of wills and personalities.
Holds up quite well, and is interesting to watch in the sense that it's a movie set during World War Two that was made shortly before the war ended. Apparently, this film has the world record for 'smallest set used to film a movie'.
