Review of Lifeboat (1944) by Dexter F — 09 Jun 2009
Hitchcock's bleakest film is full of the creativity and craft we would suspect from the director--telling an engaging story in what's got to be one of the smallest sets of all time, a stranded lifeboat.
Lifeboat is based on a John Steinbeck story and, true to form, the small cast of characters is used to make a statement on human behavior and morality. It isn't exactly subtle in this case, but it's dramatically effective and entertaining throughout.
