Review of Lifeboat (1944) by Jeffrey L — 15 Nov 2010
Classic Hitchcock is on display in this movie about a group of people adrift in the confines of a lifeboat after their ship was sunk by a U-Boat. Hitchcock is great a making interesting films in the tightest of places.
The entire film takes place in this lifeboat (much like Dial M for Murder was all in one apartment). This film has a few laughs with a certain amount of tension created when one of the survivors is discovered to be a Nazi.
The tone of this film is very much anti-Nazi with interesting dialogue that hints that a Nazi is purely evil and cannot be treated as a normal human being. Nevertheless, yet another fine example of Hitchcock's work.
