Eight unlikely companions are thrown together by fate on a lifeboat and struggle to survive on open water during the second world war. One cannot cease to be amazed by how much psychological drama and thrilling suspense Hitchcock was always able to cram in his films, and this is one of the most remarkable examples, as for for the whole duration we are taken on a small lifeboat.

The acting is intense and adds to the dramatic impact.
