Review of Life of Pi (2012) by Matthew D — 09 Jan 2014
A film about nature that is like it's subject; beautiful and charming but brutal and terrifying. A captivating story that is about stories themselves, and so much more; religion, god, fiction, reality, being human and growing up. What's more is that it takes these deep and controversial topics from the book and meets them head on to create a supremely successful adaptation, although it's interesting to speculate whether an extra half an hour to develop some of the commentary more fully would have improved it or broken it.
On top of all this the two main characters are triumphs of acting and CGI.
