Certainly not what I expected, and in this case that's a very good thing. This is one of those timeless stories you get every few years that you will remember for years to come.

This movie certainly gets you thinking. Is it one big metaphor for religion? Is Pi's story of survival with vicious animals against all odds a true story? Or does he replace actual humans with animals in his mind to describe the "animalistic" nature of humans when they're faced with life or death situations.

This movie is definitely worth seeing or owning. Make sure to watch it with a friend so you can argue the intent of the movie, much like my wife and I did for a week after watching this.
