Review of Life of Pi (2012) by Tracy W — 12 Jul 2014

Finally I got a chance to see this film and Im glad I waited until I could get my hands on a 3D version (on the account that I have a 3D tv). Amazing film, uplifting tale of faith, spirituality and the belief in God even through the most trying of times.

Visually, Ive never seen better 3D in a film to date. Its on par with the 3D visuals of Avatar and Prometheus. Whats represented here and what gets achieved is the sense of discovery and wonder which is lacking in soo many movies that think they are doing the same thing.

There are a number of amazing scenes that are soo incredible that they really have to be seen in 3D and not 2D to get the full intended experience. Even as an Atheist I could enjoy the narrative, its not about winning any converts over to theism its about the the beautiful art of film making and story telling; all which are done amazingly well here.

If you havent seen the film yet, I highly recommend viewing it in 3D as it was intended. Again, a really amazing film.
