I expected a cheesy, so-so drama about a young man befriending a tiger. What I got was a transcendental, spiritualistic experience about survival and God.
Ang Lee's Life of Pi is, in a word, SPECTACULAR. Everything about it. The story. The themes. The ending. The special effects. The beauty. The 3D (one of the best 3D movies I've ever seen, by the way). You owe your life to see it.
