A stylish and colourful adult fairy tale, Life of Pi is an example of the good things possible with modern cinema, and its excessive use of CGI is also ironically essential for a tale that would have been nigh impossible to film 30 years ago.
I found its drama exhilarating with a surprising heft of emotion behind it.
