Review of Life of Crime (2013) by Jeff B — 19 Aug 2016
This was an alright film. It really didn't have anything interesting going on and seemed to develop quite slowly. There wasn't an interesting or intriguing dynamic between the characters. You've got the bumbling criminals, but they were neither that bumbling or that entertaining.
It's a film that just sits there under the surface waiting for something to pull it up to get it up and roaring. But that never happens. And it's supposed to be a drama / comedy but it's neither that dramatic nor that funny.
There's little tension when Mickey gets kidnapped. A sense of imminent doom is never really felt. And when the criminals are supposed to be bungling, they're more drab than fantastic. Easily forgettable.
