Review of Life of Brian (1979) by Christopher U — 10 Jul 2010
There is a reason that the Pythons left such a lasting legacy. It is because you simply can't find fault in any of their work. Their satire is inspired, and while you do acknowledge later on that you've seen a very clever bit of film, in the moment you're only concern is the danger of busting your gut laughing.
So it is with Life of Brian, a comedy that would truly stand unparalleled if the Pythons never made any other movies. As it is, it holds a special place in a distinguished set of their movies, proving that nothing at all was sacred or above their cunning wit, and that poking fun may be in bad taste, but doing it makes you feel all the better.
Graham Chapman was awesome playing the victim of a world gone mad, and the other Pythons do their work admirably. This stuff is the best you may ever see.
