There is certainly brilliance in using Brian as a surrogate in the Christ tale. Interweaving that with the bureaucracy of the all-talk political factions led by Cleese makes it even more clever. However, for my money it just wasn't as memorable or quotable as Holy Grail.
Well, maybe except for Bigus Dickus.
