This movie is beautiful on so many levels. It addresses difficult circumstances with depth and full immersion. I disagree with the low ratings. Philosophy is hard to dramatize. When it is done beautifully as in Life Itself, it tugs at heart strings and helps us realize the beauty in hardship and the importance of our relationships.

Our empathy muscles can only be built through experiencing (or observing) journeys of others. The painting of heroes and villains centered beautifully in the movie (centered within the generations' stories and literally in the timeline).

It immediately drew me in and I began to see myself and my loved ones depicted in the deep and thoughtful character development (as deep as movies can go). I highly recommend watching Life Itself with an open mind, and with a good book in your hand if you need to tune in and out (it is not fast-moving).

Love and peace, Kelsey (not a movie buff, just in love with life and in love with the human condition. I've been through some very tragic and near-tragic episodes and experiences, and it feels good to know we are not alone).
