Review of Life Itself (2014) by Jordan T — 13 Jul 2014
Ebert's journey is sometimes strange to take in, from the success of his TV show to the loss of his speech, though not his voice. The documentary carefully and lovingly tells the story of Ebert's life, and provides intimate footage of his final days.
It's in that unique footage that Steve James, director of Hoop Dreams, elevates his film beyond a comprehensive retelling of Ebert's life, making this a fine tribute to cinema's greatest critic.
