Review of Life Itself (2014) by Lewis M — 22 Jul 2014
I found the film somewhat dull. While Roger was obviously an interesting character, the film jumped between so many parts of his life that I was never engrossed in any of it. His early years as an editor, his battle with the booze, his relationship with Dean, with his wife, and his later years in hospital. It all felt too rushed.
Coupled with that the talking heads element of the film became an enormous back-slapping exercise.
Disappointing.
