Review of Life Itself (2014) by Joshua E — 23 Jul 2014
I cried. And I'm not afraid to admit it. Actually, everyone in the theater did. Never have I seen a documentary that was so inspirational and yet so painful to watch. Roger Ebert was a brilliant man, both in his writing and in his personal life.
Watching his final heartwrenching moments with his wife was almost too much to bear. The way she rescued him from his loneliness and depression. The way she took care of him when he lost his voice. And, there were also some very funny comments about his relationships with others.
Overall, a tremendous documentary, one that will probably change the way I see life. Your legacy will live in, Mr. Ebert, both in your writing and the way you inspired others. I'll see you at the movies.
