A humbling tribute to an inspiring figure in cinema history, Life Itself is a celebration to the life of Roger Ebert and his love of movies. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading his reviews and his published work of Scorsese by Ebert enthused me to write reviews for myself.
From his quotes to his unpredictable and decisive opinions, this documentary captures the highs and the lows, refraining from over-the-top sentiment while remaining insightful and informative, and I think that is just how Ebert would have wanted it.
I would certainly recommend this documentary to any fan of Ebert?s work, film criticism, or just cinema in general. Ebert?s literary talent and passion for cinema alone are worth remembering.
