Review of Life Itself (2014) by Kyle M — 24 Jun 2015
"I was born inside the movie of my life... I don't remember how I got into the movie, but it continues to entertain me." - Roger Ebert's words from his same-titled memoir that this very well-crafted bio-doc reflects on and literally structured his life into a biopic he thought he'd created for himself when his view on the world of film opened. This poignant - and sort-of hard on meeting Ebert in his final condition that may disturbs some - yet feel-good bio-doc isn't only insightful on career move; it's a tribute in a form of a formal introduction to get to know one of the greatest movie critics, carrying his legacy and story to his target readers.
Roger Ebert's bio-doc is one of those documentaries for moviegoers/film buffs to add onto their watchlist of documentaries that's on film. His tribute is actually a celebration of his life that he'd envisioned as an entertaining film and this bio-doc done a reflective job on bringing his thought as fact. (A-).
