Review of Life As We Know It (2010) by Mark J — 04 May 2011
Katherine Heigl & Josh Duhamel do a really nice job with this underwritten dramedy... there's obviously chunks of film left on the cutting room floor (you don't hire Jean Smart to simply hold a baby).
The neighbors are funny but seem to have walked in from a sitcom filming nearby... and I can't tell you how much I hate the "getting drunk/stoned so we can be honest w/each other" plot gimmick - and the writers use it not once but TWICE in this film.
Still, it's to the credit of the leads that even with all the mess, they manage to make this an enjoyable film to watch.
