Review of Life As We Know It (2010) by Jeff H — 14 Jun 2011
My wife tricked me with this one. We're about to have our first baby so I was up for seeing a good parenthood movie. Surprise, its not a parenthood movie, it's a chick flick. Sure there is a baby and the comedic fish out of water scenario of new parents, but thats just the first half of the second act. The whole movie is about getting these two people who hate each other to fall in love, an all too common chick flick plot. Two opposites are perfect for each other and it takes the length of the movie for them to figure it out. In this case, the baby acts as the catalyst that will bring them together. By the time it happens, I could care less.
I wanted a parenthood movie. Something that gave me insight into the new journey my wife and I are about to take. Life As We Know It had no new life lessons to offer. I have to remember to read the synopsis before letting Bethany rent a movie.
