I found it interesting how Heigl was in both Knocked Up and this film since it is essentially the next chapter to Knocked Up (with one glaring exception - that the baby is orphaned). The fact that the birth parents would be bequeath their daughter to each of their best friends bothered me throughout the film since the legal guardians are acquaintances who share little in common but their animosity for each other.

The orphan angle was superfluous and an excuse to forcefully extract emotion. The screenwriter would have been better served skipping all the sappy and sad moments for a more aggressive comedy with an antagonistic, one night stand type of relationship instead.

Aside from the story, I enjoyed Heigl (as Holly) who has definitely found her niche. I thought that Duhamel and Lucas were perfect suited for Hollyâ(TM)s competing love interest even though Duhamelâ(TM)s character was inconsistently penned.
