Review of Life As We Know It (2010) by Shayla M — 07 Aug 2011
Eh, it's cute enough. Probably somewhere there is a psychological study that proves if you put two beautiful people on a large screen, people will stop to watch for up to two hours. Throw in a couple nice Volkswagen placement shots and presto, you're America's next top director.
Heigl and Duhamel were originally paired on a blind date by mutual friends. It fails quickly. Later, when those friends are killed in a car accident, the failed pair is once again coupled, this time as custodians of the late couple's lone child. Hilarity ensues? I guess I never got over the death of the friends as I lie on my couch weeping through scene after scene. Okay, not really, but it really is sad how quickly people can just vanish.
So it's a romantic comedy. Those usually feature a little of each, and I mean a little. This is not far off that well-traveled path. Nothing real funny, and a stilted romance with more or less cookie-cutter characters. But it's cute enough, and the actors purdy enough to pull off an average rating.
