Review of Life as a House (2001) by Jared C — 09 Apr 2010
A touching and dramatic film. Kevin Kiline plays George an ex architect who lives in the garage of his dad's house. After been fired and having a heart attack with a not good outcome, George decides for the last days of his life to tea down the house and rebuild it again the way he wants it. Determined to do so George asks his long distant goth hating son Sam to help and the two form a hate to love relationship that will help them come back to where they left off as well as everyone in George's life including his also distant ex wife.
The film is a touching piece with strong performances from the cast and a good script. The actors bring to life the emotions and reality of each characters journey through this film. There are scenes that are definetley worth watching like the flashback scene George has of when he and his son are in the ocean and recalling a lovley moment in his life. I look at it now and think this is actually a great film with a heart moving story.
