Review of Life, Animated (2016) by Nate T — 28 Feb 2017
A very well done but sometimes hard to watch critically acclaimed documentary film version of the critically acclaimed book. While it may help your appreciation of and empathy with the subjects' lives if you're on the Autism Spectrum, it isn't necessarily a requirement for viewing the film.
There is something here for everyone. This was nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the 2017 Oscars, but lost to O.J.: Made In America. I can't speak for others, but I was hoping it would win, and still think it should have won the Oscar.
The brief short film within the film here is a special feature on the DVD along with deleted scenes, all of which should be watched. On DVD only, and please read the book.
