Review of Life, Above All (2010) by I Don't Know W — 01 Jul 2011
A beautiful and movie film about a secret part of South African society. A 12-year-old girl (a phenomenal Khomotso Manyaka) must take for her family. Her stepfather is a drug-addicted layabout, never at the house, and her mother is sick.
The village where she lives is judgmental and secrets remain hidden. In order to keep her family together and to keep her friend safe, young Chandra must make some unpopular choices. Never overtly mentioning the secret plague, "Life, Above All" is a call-to-arms for AIDS education in Sub-Saharan Africa.
