Review of Life (2017) by Joshua H — 10 Apr 2017
As far as Alien rip-offs go in the past 30 years LIFE is quite an accomplishment, due to the fact the entire cast refuses to phone it in, despite its contrived, formulaic premise it surprisingly delivers something both smart and HIGHLY ENTERTAINING! VERDICT: The movie is a schlocky turd of a concept that's polished so fresh and so clean that it turned to GOLD who's alchemy lies within its admirable cast, super-tight plotting, slick visuals.
.. that's grounded just enough in realism, where every character has just enough depth and likability for the audience to care about them... which is part of its lofty ruse leading up to donkey-punch said audience then asphyxiate them with a healthy dose of nihilism till it climaxes with gripping conclusion.
(If you're into that kind of shenanigans).
