Review of Life (2017) by Bing B — 09 Apr 2017
While everyone seems to be slating this film I disagree. It's no 'Interstellar', but it does at least make you feel like you've just seen a decent monster movie with at least a head nod to Science fact as well as fiction.
While it does lack originality, what it does do, it does well. It has far more in common with John Carpenter's 'The Thing' than it does Ridley Scott's 'Alien', particularly in the format of how the story is told act by act.
The alien is at least original in its design, avoiding the bipedal. Well shot and well paced. Where it does lose marks for me was the score. The last track of the film was purely a ripoff of the 'Sicario' soundtrack.
All in this is a well executed sci-fi B movie that was bound to be underrated due to the stiff competition from the last 40 years of the same genre.
