Review of Life (2017) by Nate S — 01 Apr 2017
"Life" is a poor way to waste and hour and thirty minutes of yours. With absolutely no character building whatsoever, I couldn't tell you any of the characters names (or the alien's) and I walked out of the theater less than an hour ago.
You feel no attachment to the characters as you watch them get murdered one by on in the typical cliché method of movie monsters. (Spoilers after this point.) At the midpoint of the movie, I started rooting for the alien to kill the crew.
Ryan Reynolds is in the film, though clearly they couldn't afford him as he is the first to die. The alien goes from a single cell organism, to a jellyfish capable of using tools in a month. I guess Martian evolution works fast? I was going to scrutinize the movie in more detail, but honestly, I just don't feel it's worth the time.
The movie is boring, predictable, and has enough clichés to be a drinking game (one that would likely send you to the hospital).
