Review of Lie with Me (2009) by Moses M — 06 Oct 2007
If there is one thing I cannot stand, its an arthouse movie that tries to be more special than it really is.
A tale of a woman longing for sex, trying to use it to compensate for the breakdown of her own family, who finds escape in the arms of a man who has problems of his own. These two people meet, have sex, have sex again, and again and then find themselves struggling to relate to each other. She becoming obsessed, him not giving a damn. And that's it.
It actually becomes ever so tiredsome very quickly, as we are offered one uneventual sex scene after another. If it had been erotic, and inventive, then I would understand, but it tries to say things about relationships while being slightly titilating. It doesn't work on either level, and you end up wishing you hadn't have bothered in teh first place.
