Review of Lie with Me (2005) by Ben B — 20 Jun 2007
We rented this because it's one of the few recent Canadian films available over here. It's a dirty movie with many sensuous moments, but it should have been a half hour short on TVO. An interesting subject, the links between sex and love, becomes tedious with the languid voiceover of the lead protaganist.
The tedium is amplified because the movie is filled out with long shots of the stars walking in Toronto, but I guess this is how it got funded by the government. The camerawork was interesting, but at times approached film school standards.
Penises actually make several appearences, which is a rarity in most movies about sex, and a welcome change here.
