Review of License to Drive (1988) by Manuel T — 05 May 2008
Classic all time teen comedy from the two Corey's HAIM & FELDMAN. What we have here is a comedy about getting a Driver's License from a teens Point Of View. From the beginning we have a doofus named Les Anderson (HAIM) who falls asleep in Driver's Ed and starts dreaming of a James Bond type sequence with him escaping from the school bus and falling into the passenger's seat of a Mercedes which is being driven by the HOT AS HELL hottie Heather Graham.
As the film goes on we see Les taking the DMV test, he looks around the room smiling like a complete idiotic moron thinking he'll ace the test by just answering any questions as quickly as he can.
When at last he comes to the last question and gets his final results. He freaks out when the message comes back to him written "YOU HAVE FAILED". Les stands up in anger and bangs both his hands on his monitor in frustration and the whole computer system crashes.
Les in disappointment walks home. When he finally gets home his father greets him excitedly and starts drilling and asking him questions about the test because he is so happy and excited for him. In his nervous reaction because he doesn't want to disappoint his Old Man he lies and tells him he got his License.
While this conversation is still going on his father throws Les the keys to his car but in protest he lies and tells his father that he is very tired and that he wants to go to his room and lie down and go to sleep.
When Les gets to his room and before he can lay down the phone rings and it is his best friends wanting to congratulate him for passing the test. (For those who haven't seen this movie yet I'll end this right now so I won't ruin the rest of the movie for you.
So either rent or buy the movie. It's great to watch during the weekend or on a boring day.).
