Review of Licence to Kill (1989) by Andrew O — 22 Jan 2009
This used to be my favorite of all the James Bond movies, until the combined force of Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace knocked it off its perch, and replaced Timothy Dalton with Daniel Craig as my favorite Bond.
However, it's a great movie, and definitely an overlooked and underrated Bond movie. After his best friend, Felix Lieter, is attacked, and Lieter's wife, Della, is murdered by an escaped Colombian drug lord named Sanchez, played brilliantly by Robert Davi, James Bond gives the middle finger to Her Majesty's government and goes on a revenge mission to kill Sanchez and shut down his drug smuggling operation.
Highly recommended.
