Review of Licence to Kill (1989) by Wesley G — 18 Dec 2009
I'll go ahead and say it. The action was entertaining, though it did not feel like a true Bond film. This may be due to the fact that Timothy Dalton went rogue in this one. The connection to his friend Felix was not full explained, except that he had saved Bond's life many times before.
The relations between Bond, Lupe, and Bouvier came across as completely fake, with little to chemistry exhibited before they started locking lips. Benicio Del Toro's appearance caught me by surprise, and thankfully his role did not keep his career from rising to the stardom he has achieved today.
As I said, the action was quite good, and in the end when Franz Sanchez was doused in gasoline, I knew exactly what was going to happen next.
