Review of Licence to Kill (1989) by Kevin G — 13 May 2013
Aside from the thematically-tied yet off-putting corny opening parachute to the wedding, this is a dark Bond. I love the darkness. While audiences liked Dalton's intense take even less. However, for Bond giving up his licence to kill and embarking on some ice-cold revenge, this is a juicy platter; a blue-rare steak, oozing blood.
The subject matter lent itself to less quips, but quips would've ruined Dalton's sense of determination; never had Bond been this driven. While at times it could pass for an episode of Miami Vice, it is never boring but never completely mindblowing either.
