Review of Licence to Kill (1989) by Steve H — 29 May 2009

Though the realism of this Bond film foreshadows Craig's Bond, much of the thrill is consequently missing (later remedied by Craig- proving the two can coexist) and it leaves us with a James Bond that is a little too vulnerable for my likes. The script also seems to lack some of its wit, and its titular character much of his charm. Not too mention a whole slew of terrible performances due in part to the script that gave no one much of anything to say, do, or be- unfortunate considering Q's larger role in this movie.

The plot does thankfully finally focus on Bond and Leiter's friendship and provide some background for both characters. The drug cartel rogue mission really just helps facilitate this.
