Review of Licence to Kill (1989) by Topher H — 12 Feb 2012
Unfairly underrated Bond thriller with Timothy Dalton's no-nonsense 007 going renegade to single-handedly bring down ruthless drug baron Robert Davi. The infamous response to Licence equally typifies the attitude towards Dalton's Bond, lauded by some, heretical to others.
Whatever one thinks about his incarnation as Ian Fleming's superspy, he is at least believable and gutsy in the role and the film overall brings some much needed meat and muscle back to the series after the fun but flimsy entries of the Roger Moore era (and a couple of Connery's later entries).
Cracking stuff.
