Review of Leviathan (2014) by Mark J — 23 May 2015
A good Russian movie. Dark, foreboding and topical. However, those who see it as an indictment or severe criticism or a satire of the Russian government are reading too much into it. Government manipulation is rampant in most countries and was no worse than some of the things I have seen in this one.
It may have been a criticism of the Russian people who drink constantly, but it was a tale that is commonly told of the hardships of the average person who has something a more powerful person wants. It is gray and bleak, sad and 2.
5 hours long. It is still very enjoyable.
