Review of Leviathan (2014) by Private U — 09 Feb 2015
I personally found this to be an interesting look into the contemporary realities of life in the russian countryside, but if you're not a fan of "slice-of-life" movies then you should probably avoid this film.
It doesn't pull any punches and skewers just about every level of russian society in this bleak treatment, and the filmmaker revels in making the audience squirm at the indignities that the characters accept as part of every day life.
In short, it's the russian "Boyhood" and all that implies....
