Review of Letters to Juliet (2010) by Whitney W — 04 Oct 2013
A beautiful tale of a young American writer named Sophie, played by Amanda Seyfried takes a trip to Italy with her fiance. On the trip she discovers a group of women who call themselves the secretaries of Juliet.
This group gather letters written to Juliet in an attempt to solve relationship problems. Sophie soon joins the women in answering letters, and discovers a letter never found that had been written 50 years ago.
She responds to the letter even though the chances of the response finding the original writer of the letter are slim. Soon enough though she'll get the surprise of her life and a journey that will take her across the country with the original letter writer, Claire portrayed by Vanessa Redgrave and her grandson, Charlie, portrayed by Christopher Egan.
The movie is a beautiful story that is unique to our time. The story plot is beautifully woven and though slightly cliche, is a unique story line. This story will tug at your heart and just make you wish you could help Claire all along the journey.
Christopher and Amanda portray their characters extremely well, creating a sense of chemistry beyond what is normal. You love to hate Christopher's character, Charlie, and you are rooting for Amanda's character, Sophie, all the way to the end of the movie.
Besides the acting and story plots though, this is one of the cleanest chick-flicks I have ever seen. Not one swear word enters the movie at all, and no nudity scenes exist. This is pure romance and beauty of what love can be.
Overall, I give this movie a 5 out of 5 stars. Letters To Juliet is truly the perfect Valentine's Day movie. This is one that will get any girl to cuddle with their man.
