Review of Letters to Juliet (2010) by Matthew M — 20 Jul 2011
While it does suffer from sheer tedium as it finishes off, there is a nice quality to "Letters To Juliet" that, albeit soppy and mushy, brings a romantic feel into your life. I'm not saying for one moment that I liked it, nor am I saying I intensely disliked it, but I knew throughout that it would be one I could find myself watching without becoming completely unhappy with it.
It's made of irresisitable charm, a Olde charm, that sums up the whole point of movies - don't we watch to imagine our lives differently, to imagine ourselves as different people, and to imagine our dreams in other places? And that is exactly what this film does, unashamedly and with mediocre surprise.
