Review of Letters to God (2010) by Matty N — 16 Oct 2010
At times, excruciating, this is one unoriginal piece of melodramatic sap. It was made to make you cry, not anything else. The problem these filmmakers have had to make a good Christian film after the failure of "Fireproof" and "Facing the Giants" is realism.
Nobody feels like a real person, just good-hearted Christians, and no boundaries are pushed. The end was as expected and it felt almost heartless, yet overdone. Here's a tip, don't overload Christian movies, keep the theme undertone to the story, but don't exploit it.
The Chronicles of Narnia was a Christian movie disguised as a blockbuster, where the connection was there, but it was hidden underneath the story. As a Christian myself, I found the film to be utterly annoying (and poorly written).
