Review of Letters to God (2010) by Tim M — 09 Aug 2010
Note: Because this is a religious movie, I am rating it on a separate scale than I would for any other movie. My religion movie scale bases the movie on how well they delivered the religious message, drama, character development, degree of predictability, and age group the movie was targeted.
Normally PG 13 and R movies leaves an impact on the viewer, but when a PG movie comes along that leaves a lasting impression you know that you have a good movie.
This movie did had the feel of a "christian movie". I think what gave this movie that feel was the second rate soundtrack. A few areas of plot were left a little underdeveloped, but other areas were fully complete, making up for the loss in other areas.
This movie had an interesting approach, making the main character static and all the other characters dynamic. That certainly added a special twist.
I think this movie tried to target three distinct age groups, young children, teenagers, and adults. So I guess I could recommend this movie to those seeking an uplifting family movie in the religious genre.
