Review of Letters to God (2010) by Sarah . — 31 Jul 2011
I knew I would be touched by this movie and cry a lot, and that was exactly what happened. It was sweet and endearing, a little predictable - but these days, what isnt? It was sad yet uplifting. A nice, inspirational, Christian movie. If you aren't religious or believe in any sort of faith, you probably won't like this, but then again, maybe you will. The kids were honestly so cute and a joy to watch. I didn't really love Jeffery Johnson's character, but he didn't really take away from the movie. I think the thing I most appreciated though was the fact that it explored a character losing faith in the face of all the sadness. I thought that was a very realistic side of things to show and I'm glad they did that.
Also didn't know that this was loosely based around a true story. That was especially touching.
What did this movie teach me? Children can be remarkably stronger than adults.
