Review of Letters from Iwo Jima (2006) by Kurt H — 17 Jun 2009
One of the most powerful films I've seen in a long time. Heart-wrenching and tragic, this movie has changed the way I look at war. The intense emotional drama of the individual characters like Saigo and Shimizu really drove home the hopelessness of their situation in a way that excessive special effects could not.
Brilliant in its subtlety, Letters from Iwo Jima is a movie I'll remember for a long time.
