Review of Letters from Iwo Jima (2006) by Kane T — 07 Oct 2009
(4 out of 5 Stars) An interesting product in that this was an American movie in Japanese told from the Japanese viewpoint. Eastwood did an incredible job of humanizing and identifying their motivations and fear.
Rather than the propoganda war machine image that the US and Japan had fostered, you see the individual soldiers struggle -- not just with surviving but ideas of loyalty, ignorance, and "what's right.
