It's been years, literally years, since I left a theater with such fluttering emotions. Not even Saving Private Ryan moved me as deeply as this film. Bored to tears by Flags of our Fathers, my expectations weren't very high, but I heard enough good things to get my into the seat.

I should have known that Eastwood would have taken the more interesting of the two stories. The characters of Flags of our Fathers only thought they lost their souls. On that day, these people did. Everything is against them.

There's no hope, no one to trust and no escape. They will die. No one is going to save them. What we see is what's left of men when you strip away everything and tell them to fight. Seeing what each one does will surprise and shock you.

In the end, you know it's a powerful story when it can take a stone cold, stubborn sumbitch like me and make me feel something.
