Letters From Iwo Jima captures the heart of one of the dynamics of any conflict, which is the often skewed perspective of our enemies. We as humans tend to turn our enemies into monsters which are more easily hated, and in the context of World War 2, killed.
This beautiful film from Clint Eastwood humanizes the Japanese soldiers who fought and bled on Iwo Jima. It eloquently explores the emotions, the generosity, the courage, and the flaws of the Japanese men who died there.
