Review of Letters from Iwo Jima (2006) by Eolapaloe Z — 09 Apr 2010
A great counterpart to Flags of our Fathers -- the real tragic for me was the sense of guilt these soldiers were feeling for not being able to fulfill their duty in protecting their homeland -- the sense of hopelessness when they first see the immense US army and fleet off the coast, the sense of betrayal when they find out that they are not getting any reinforcements, and the clash of cultures between the tradition of honorable suicide that turns into mutiny.
