Review of Letters from Iwo Jima (2006) by Ollie W — 05 Sep 2010
Not bad, not bad at all. In fact, its much much better than the predictably patriotic first instalment "Flag's of our Fathers." Mainly because it gives the enemy a voice, a face and some sort of emotional connection to the audience; a luxury we are seldom awarded in these kinds of mainstream blockbuster releases.
Definitely worth a watch, even if its just to see Eastwood do something a little bit unpredictable and still come out looking relatively successful or perhaps just for the stand-out performance from Kazunari Ninomiya.
