Review of Letters from Iwo Jima (2006) by Stephen R — 03 Jan 2011
Serving as evidence Clint Eastwood is a better director than actor, this is a mature piece of filmmaking. A somber, sobering WWII story and a balanced philosophical consideration of war itself. It manages to combine epic set pieces and introspective moments in a nicely-constructed flow.
